Wrong Field

Something else that’s been on my mind lately is that what if I pick the wrong major. Right now I am a Computer Engineer major and I have enjoyed it so far and I see myself doing very well in the field, but I think what if there is a major or a job I don’t know about that would feel like a calling and I never know till later in life. Like if I am a good actor, singer, artist but just don’t know it or haven’t had the proper opportunity. Then you find out when you have a job and is financially settled. Just don’t want to miss the opportunity. For the most part I feel I would be well suited for the field of Computers and they interest me. I don’t know maybe it hasn’t came yet or I wouldn’t find those jobs enjoyable or I’m not good at them. I just was always told you’ll never work a day in your life if you find a job you love. I believe this and couldn’t stand the thought of being bored on a job for about 30-40 years ( It would drive me crazy).

You are so right. I know exactly what you are talking about. When you decide which major should you choose, which is one of the most important decisions in your life, it is not easy. Nobodies wants to make the wrong decision but I believe that at this point of your life you know yourself and I have faith that I and you will make the right decisions.

i say stick with what you're good at! I'm having a miserable time just trying to pick a new major. You have one that you like and you're good at and will end you up with a great stable job. Don't mess it up. You'll just be miserable like me wishing I had a stable major!

im still undecided for this same reason. Is a really big decision and is the way your life is going to go. Its what your going to be doing to provide a well being to your family. But your already halfway there since you like all your clases.

I'm undecided too. I think people should go with what they love and what they want to do. If someone can get better at it, then they should practice and find a career in that field.

I try to look down the line as well, and see what I'll be in the next 10 years. It's impossible; I just have no idea. I think we should just focus on the here and now. The future is important, but we shouldn't let it control us.

Well if you like what you ar edoing then stay with it. Because if you like it now then you will really enjoy it in the future. I picked my major dentristry because for some reason it fascinates me and i want to do it for the rest of my life.
